What sets apart a cabin is a unique combination of quiet and the chance to unwind. A compact cabin of 150 square feet called Vista Cabin East is located on 200 acres of private forestry near Killaloe, Ontario. This cabin that only sleeps two was designed to be a retreat from the constant noise of technology, routines, and everyday distractions.

The small size of the cabin is the main idea of the cabin design. One of the two sleeping areas is the queen sized loft bed that is accessible by ladder. The other area is a snug sitting space with a small kitchenette which allows one to cook using a wood-fired stove. Solar lights and a portable power pack that can be charged to power basic devices without relying on the main energy supply. A deck for your enjoyment is available, and a campfire site for your gathering at night under the trees has also been prepared. Your windows open up to a forest view. With the help of nature, you do not have to walk long in order to experience the forest. Just step outside the cabin.
An unusual yet pleasant feature available in the cabin is the private wood-fired cedar sauna. The guest takes control of the stove for heating, enjoys the fresh woods in between, and returns into a steam of warmth; a simple process that fits the lifestyle of an off grid life. In warm weather, a seasonal, open-air hot-water shower is offered. Facilities are kept clean, private rather than the type of resort amenities to underline the cabin’s main selling points, intimacy and ability to be self-sufficient.

The most attractive part is what’s happening on the other side of your door, which is the 200 acres around the cabin that you get to experience. These old logging paths will guide you through dense forests and stone fences will remind you of the former settlements. Inhabitants of the landscape include deer, wild turkeys, and songbirds; they are all part of the wilderness.

Your cabin becomes one of the few places where night skies are very dark. No neighboring structures or any other light sources pollute the sky so that stargazing becomes the main attraction.
Even though the cabin is completely out of power, the visitor needs to be a bit flexible. No Wi-Fi and cellular service is not guaranteed. Composting toilet is used. Firewood is the main resource for cook stoves and sauna. Ambient forest sounds replace your music, providing you with the perfect background. You have to climb up the ladder to the sleeping area; seasonal outdoor showers and other small changes to your daily life are part of what you will face. All things are a matter of interpretation. The visitor is free from those things, which is what makes their experiences a true one.

In the first floor there is living area and kitchen, and in the second floor there is sleeping area that includes a queen sized bed.

From round Lake to Bonnechere Park you can travel as close as Algonquin National Park and also discover the caves of bonnechere or just walk on the outskirts of a national park. Places like Killaloe, wilno, and Barry’s Bay are also close to the cabin to get groceries or enjoy a change in scenery. Located away from any grid this lovely cabin is ideal for a couple’s retreat or a solitary traveler’s adventure. Expect a limited number of amenities at your disposal but with the bonus of more free time outside and fewer distractions. Not designed to compete with any resort, the cabin is a simple place which offers a very small living area, a private sauna, and the possibility to wander around the forest at will without limitation. The stay itself will be characterized by an uncomplicated environment, the ability to be left quite in one’s privacy, and the following natural cycles.
